This environmental training course is a Level 3 Vocational Qualification consisting of 5 workshops. Outside of the workshops the course is designed for the learner to be able to study at a time and place that is convenient to them.
This training course has been approved by the Institute of Environmental Management and Assessment (IEMA) for associate level membership. This means that you can access future training opportunities and keep abreast of the fast moving world of the environmental sector through a variety of publications and workshops.
The course is designed to provide individuals with the environmental knowledge and skills necessary to improve the environmental performance of their organisation. The course content will help you to identify how your organisation impacts on the environment and your legal obligations, as well as equipping you with the tools to save money from your bottom line through increased resource efficiency.
Whether your company is starting to build an environmental management system or you have a mature system already in place, this course will provide the environmental practitioner with up to date skills and techniques in order to embed a culture of continual improvement in terms of environmental performance. The candidate will also implement a waste minimisation scheme for their organisation and conduct a live environmental risk assessment.
Course Content
This training course consists of the following units:
- Unit 1 - Develop an understanding of global environmental issues in relation to your organisation.
- Unit 2 - Investigate environmental aspects and impacts of your organisation.
- Unit 3 - Apply appropriate environmental tools to drive environmental improvement within your organisation.
- Unit 4 - Understand the need for and the benefits of an Environmental Management System for your organisation.
Entry Requirements
Candidates should hold an appropriate intermediate qualification or equivalent and must have GCSE grade C in English Language and Mathematics or be proficient in literacy and numeracy to that level.
Candidates are required to be in a position (employed or voluntary) to collect evidence of environmental management activities.
Structure
The training course is delivered by 5 full day workshops. You will be required to create a portfolio of evidence that demonstrates your learning.. Each candidate is also entitled to work based mentor support.
Duration
This training course typically takes between 4 and 9 months to complete. We would recommend you aim to complete in 6 months.
