The aim of this course is to provide learners with an overview of Environmental Management Systems (EMS) and the knowledge and primary tools to implement one. This course tends to cover the ISO 14001 EMS, but can be tailored to cover different systems such as BS 8555.

  • Identify the Inputs, Operations and Outputs of a typical organisation and explain how these could impact on the environment
  • Explain the benefits of introducing an EMS
  • Name 3 recognised EMS standards
  • Describe what makes a good environmental policy
  • Evaluate environmental aspects for significance
  • Recall the clauses of ISO 14001 and list all the sub-clauses in the correct order
