Carbon Footprint Assessment

How to reduce your carbon footprintThe introduction of the Climate Change Bill in 2008 committed the United Kingdom to a reduction of Greenhouse Gas emissions of 80% by 2050. Subsequently the introduction of the Carbon Reduction Commitment in 2010 is placing the emphasis firmly on business to understand and quantify its sources and emissions of greenhouse gases to contribute to the targets set out in the Climate Change Act.

The Carbon Reduction Commitment currently only requires the very highest energy users to measure and reduce their emissions, however it is only a matter of time before quantifying and reducing emissions will be a requirement for a much wider range of business and industry either through direct regulation or through supply chain pressure.

Understanding your Carbon Footprint and greenhouse gas emissions need not be seen as burdensome. Effective Carbon assessment is an excellent opportunity to identify cost savings to add to your bottom line in addition to meeting the requirements of current and forthcoming regulation.
