The Environmental Academy feel it is appropriate prior to our training courses to mutually accept the terms of a learner charter. An example of such an agreement is given below:

We are committed to providing the highest standard of teaching, guidance and support needed for you to achieve your qualification.
What you can expect from us:
- clear information about our courses to help you understand what is required to achieve your qualification;
- high quality, interactive teaching provided by friendly, approachable, professional staff;
- assistance to plan your programme of study and set milestones for achievement;
- support for your studies by providing suggested sources of further information;
- systematic and prompt feedback on assessments, emails and phone calls;
- information relating to appeals processes or making complaints;
- promotion of health, safety and equality in aspects of training;
- readily available services in the areas of welfare, and tutorial support;
- a quick response to any reasonable requests for support or help;
- we will endeavour to provide suitable support to meet any additional needs;
- we will behave in a manner, which respects you, others learners and other teaching staff;
- assistance to help you plan further study and career options once you have successfully achieved your qualification;
- Where we can't provide this advice and guidance we will signpost you to appropriate contacts
In return you should:
- take an active part in your own learning by, for example, contributing to class discussions;
- consistently attend the taught sessions of your programme of study; complete assignments and assessments by specified deadlines;
- undertake study beyond the given contact hours by reading, writing and problem solving. Use the recommended sources of information in order to facilitate your academic development;
- use feedback to improve your performance;
- discuss any problems which may impinge on your academic progress with your tutor;
- inform us of any additional needs your may have;
- behave in a manner, which respects yourself, others learners and teaching staff; (e.g. no bullying or harassment. No abuse, swearing or foul language. We will not accept any behaviour that could be considered offensive to another individual on grounds of reference to race, colour, religious belief, sex, disability or age);
- provide feedback, tell us when you are satisfied with the programme and suggest ways we could improve training provision;
- if you are ever unhappy with any aspect of our service, let us know so we can put it right!
