Carbon Charter

We at the Environmental Academy pledge to reduce our carbon footprint by adhering to the following policies and principles:
  • We will ensure that all electrical appliances are turned off when not in use.Natural light will be maximised in the office by ensuring blinds are open to reduce reliance on light fittings.
  • Heating will be kept to an absolute minimum where possible in the summer months and unused space will be kept unheated.
  • EA staff will adopt car sharing for the commute and for business where practicable.
  • Videoconferencing will be used where practicable to conduct meetings
  • We will also travel to training venues and meetings by public transport where practicable.
  • The Academy will promote sustainable transport through a Bike to Work week during the summer.
  • EA staff will promote improved driver efficiency techniques to reduce carbon emissions.
  • Only reusable bags will be used to bring supplies into the Academy premises.
  • Seasonal produce for EA staff will be locally sourced to reduce food miles.
  • Providing information to customers and visitors on sustainable transport options available to them when visiting our office or training venues.
A "Carbon Champion" will ensure that the above charter is respected and adhered to.
 
The Carbon Charter will be reviewed by the Environmental Academy every 6 months and suggestions for future actions are encouraged.
